Yury Zhirkov Rules Out Coaching Career
Former Russia international has no desire to become a coach
Zhirkov enjoyed successful playing career with Chelsea and Russia
Former Russia international Yury Zhirkov has ruled out the possibility of starting a coaching career in the future.
The 39-year-old, who retired from playing in 2021, enjoyed a successful career with both club and country.
He won the Premier League title with Chelsea in 2010 and was part of the Russia squad that reached the semi-finals of the 2008 European Championship.
However, Zhirkov says he has no desire to follow in the footsteps of many of his former teammates and become a coach.
"I'm not planning to start a coaching career," Zhirkov told Sport Express.
"I've been in football for a long time and I've seen what it takes to be a successful coach.
"I don't have the patience or the desire to do that."
Zhirkov's decision not to pursue a coaching career is likely to disappoint some fans, but it is ultimately his choice.
He has enjoyed a successful career as a player and he is now entitled to enjoy his retirement.
