Tolstoy, Shalyapin, and Yesenin to Voice Questions for the Geographical Dictation

The legendary voices of Russian literature and music will join the ranks of Geographical Dictation readers this year.

This year, participants will hear questions not only from famous travelers and scientists but also from the voices of great Russian writers and musicians. Among them will be Lev Tolstoy, Fyodor Shalyapin, and Sergei Yesenin.

The Geographical Dictation is an annual event, first held in 2015. It is designed to test the geographical knowledge of participants and to raise awareness of geography.

Tolstoy, Shalyapin, and Yesenin all had a deep love for Russia and its natural beauty.
