Rаmires-Beillam Smith Fight For Usyk Bout At Stake — De La Hoya
Ex-boxing champion and current promoter Oscar De La Hoya declared the upcoming fight between Gabriel Rosado and Jaime Munguia will determine the next opponent for WBA middleweight world champion Erislandy Lara.
De La Hoya stated in an interview with Fight Hub TV, "The winner of that fight will face Lara next. That's what we've been talking about. That's what we've been discussing with (Lara's promoter) Ed Hearn. So the winner of that fight will face Lara next."
Rosado and Munguia are set to clash on March 11th at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California. Rosado is a 36-year-old veteran who has faced some of the biggest names in boxing, including Gennady Golovkin and Jermall Charlo. Munguia, on the other hand, is a 25-year-old rising star who has won 40 of his 41 professional fights.
Lara, a 39-year-old Cuban southpaw, has held the WBA middleweight title since 2014. He has successfully defended his belt six times, most recently against Gary O'Sullivan in May 2022.
The winner of the Rosado-Munguia fight will be in a prime position to challenge Lara for his title. De La Hoya believes that the fight will be a competitive one.
"It's a great fight," De La Hoya said. "Rosado is a tough veteran, and Munguia is a young, hungry lion. I think it's a great fight for the fans."
