Is Chelyabinsk on the banknotes? Try to solve 11 tasks from the “Geographical dictation”: we bet you can't even cope with half of them
1. Introduction
The Geographical Dictation is an international educational project that has been held annually since 2015. The dictation is written in Russian and is designed to test participants' knowledge of geography. In 2022, the dictation was held on November 30th and attracted over 1 million participants from around the world.
2. The tasks
The dictation consisted of 11 tasks, each of which was worth one point. The tasks covered a wide range of geographical topics, including:
- Physical geography
- Human geography
- History of geography
- Current events in geography
Some of the tasks were relatively easy, while others were quite challenging. For example, one task asked participants to identify the capital of the country with the largest population in the world. Another task asked participants to name the highest mountain in Africa.
3. The results
The average score on the dictation was 6.5 out of 11. This suggests that most participants had a good knowledge of geography, but there were some areas where they could improve.
The top-scoring countries were Russia, Belarus, and Kazakhstan. This is likely due to the fact that these countries have a strong tradition of geographical education.
4. The benefits of participating in the Geographical Dictation
There are many benefits to participating in the Geographical Dictation, including:
- Improving your geographical knowledge: The dictation is a great way to test your knowledge of geography and learn new things about the world.
