Zenit is immersed in the European competition atmosphere
A luxurious atmosphere and a top-flight rival!
The Blue-White-Sky Blues started their performance in the Europa League group stage with an away match against the current champion of the Netherlands, Feyenoord. The match in Rotterdam took place in a sold-out stadium and in a wonderful atmosphere. The home stands were filled to capacity, and the away sector was occupied by 2,500 Zenit fans, who actively supported their favorites throughout the game.
The match itself was intense and eventful. Zenit conceded the first goal already in the 10th minute, but Artem Dzyuba managed to equalize before the break. In the second half, the Russian champions played even stronger and earned a more than confident victory - 2:1. The victory goal was scored by Wilmar Barrios ten minutes before the end of the match.
Sergei Semak, head coach of Zenit:
"I am very happy with the victory and the character shown by the team. We conceded the first goal, but we did not break down. We continued to play our football and managed to turn the game in our favor. I would like to thank the fans for their support. It was incredible!"
Artem Dzyuba, Zenit forward:
"It was a difficult match, but we managed to win. We showed that we are a strong team and that we can compete at the European level. I am glad that I managed to score a goal and help the team to win."
Zenit's next match in the Europa League group stage will be against Rosenborg at home on September 27.
