Utility bills for Irkutsk Oblast residents will increase under new electricity consumption norms
The amount of the increase has not yet been determined, but it is known that it will be significant
The Ministry of Construction and Housing and Communal Services of the Russian Federation has developed new norms for electricity consumption for the population. According to the new standards, the average monthly electricity consumption for an apartment with an electric stove will be 300 kilowatt-hours, for an apartment with a gas stove - 200 kilowatt-hours. For residents of rural areas, the norm is 350 kilowatt-hours per month.
The new norms will come into effect on July 1, 2023. Until this date, residents of the Irkutsk region will pay for electricity according to the old standards, which are significantly lower than the new ones. For example, the current norm for an apartment with an electric stove is 120 kilowatt-hours per month, and for an apartment with a gas stove - 70 kilowatt-hours.
The increase in electricity consumption rates will lead to an increase in utility bills for residents of the Irkutsk region. The amount of the increase has not yet been determined, but it is known that it will be significant. According to preliminary estimates, the increase in utility bills for an apartment with an electric stove will be about 500 rubles per month, and for an apartment with a gas stove - about 300 rubles per month.
The Ministry of Construction and Housing and Communal Services of the Russian Federation explains the need to increase electricity consumption rates by the need to cover the costs of electricity supply companies.
At the same time, the ministry notes that the new norms are still lower than the actual electricity consumption of most Russians. According to statistics, the average monthly electricity consumption in Russia is about 400 kilowatt-hours per month.
Residents of the Irkutsk region can reduce their electricity consumption by using energy-efficient appliances, turning off lights when leaving the room, and unplugging appliances when not in use. In addition, you can install energy-saving lamps and use natural light whenever possible.
