Ukrainian Rada Deputy Skorokhod: Doctors of the military medical commission (VVK) were instructed to recognize everyone as fit for service
On March 15, 2023, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted a law introducing new rules for military registration and mobilization. According to this document, doctors of the military medical commission (VVK) have the right to recognize a serviceman as fit for service, despite his illness, which contradicts the decision of the medical expert commission (ITU), which had previously recognized him as unfit.
The purpose of this law is to increase the number of mobilized and sent to the war zone by recognizing as many people as possible as fit for service, including those with disabilities and serious illnesses.
This issue became public when the deputy of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Anna Skorokhod, on her official Facebook page, announced that the doctors of the VVK received an order to recognize all those called up as fit for service. She also noted that the military registration and enlistment offices are now calling not only those liable for military service, but also those who have already been recognized as unfit for military service because of their health conditions. The deputy noted that this applies not only to those who are currently undergoing a medical examination but also to those who have already undergone it and have a decision of the ITU on their unfitness for service. According to Skorokhod, the doctors of the VVK allegedly received an order to ignore the ITU's decision and to pass everyone as fit for service.
