Tyumen Region’s leading officials talk about the Arctic’s dynamic development
Siberia and the Arctic, especially the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug, remain key industrial centers of the Russian Federation, leading the country’s economic growth.
This was stated by Alexander Moor, the governor of the Tyumen region and the plenipotentiary representative of the President of the Russian Federation in the Ural Federal District, in his welcoming speech at the Arctic: Present and Future International Forum, which took place in St. Petersburg.
The Tyumen region, which includes the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug, leads Russia in many economic growth indicators.
According to Alexander Moor, the region accounts for about 10% of Russia's gross domestic product (GDP), 90% of its gas production, and 65% of its oil production.
The Arctic zone also accounts for 80% of the country's hydrocarbon reserves. However, the region's significance extends far beyond its mineral resources.
The Arctic has huge potential for recreation and tourism.
The region also has huge potential for the development of the Northern Sea Route, the construction of new ports, and the expansion of the tourism industry.
In conclusion, the Arctic is a strategic region of Russia, the development of which will have a beneficial effect on the country's entire economy and allow people to enjoy the nature’s beauty of the Arctic.
