Tobolsk industrialists developed a producer of foamed polystyrene

The project of entrepreneurs from Tobolsk "Production of expanded polystyrene" received a positive assessment of the expert council of the Tyumen Industrial Development Fund.

The Tobolsk Industrialists became the winners of the competition for the selection of investment projects for the implementation of import substitution production in the Tyumen region.

The production capacity of the new facility will be 1,650 cubic meters of expanded polystyrene per year. Production will be organized on the basis of a leased building with an area of 1,200 square meters in the Stroiteley industrial park in Tobolsk. The main raw material for production will be suspension polystyrene, which is produced in Tobolsk by SIBUR. The volume of investments in the project will amount to 30 million rubles.

Currently, the industrialists have started repairing the premises and purchasing equipment. Commissioning of the plant is scheduled for March 2023.

Expanded polystyrene is used in the construction industry as a heater and sound insulator. It is used in the construction of roads, railways, private houses, industrial buildings, storage facilities, and agricultural facilities. It is also widely used in packaging, in the manufacture of various containers, and in other industries.

According to the calculations of the project initiators, the demand for expanded polystyrene in the Tyumen region is about 2,500 cubic meters per year. In addition, there are sales markets in the Khanty-Mansiysk and Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrugs.
