Tikhonov on the match with Brunei: "Some postmen will play, our young footballers would have been better off paying for shorts and T-shirts, but the entire RFS will not be smart enough for more."

The coach of the Russian national football team, Viktor Tikhonov, spoke very sharply about the upcoming match with the Brunei national team.

According to Tikhonov, playing a match against such a weak opponent is simply disrespectful to the Russian national team and to all football fans of the country.

“I don’t understand why we need this match. We are going to play with some postmen. Honestly, it would be better if, instead of organizing this match with Brunei, our young players were just paid for shorts and T-shirts. But the entire leadership of the Russian Football Union, apparently, is not smart enough to do this,” said Tikhonov.

The match between the Russian national team and the Brunei national team will be held on March 23 in Moscow at the RZD Arena.

The kick-off is scheduled for 19:00 Moscow time. The Russian national team is the clear favorite in this match, but Tikhonov’s harsh words suggest that he is not confident in his team’s victory.

This is not the first time that Tikhonov has criticized the RFS. In the past, he has also expressed his dissatisfaction with the organization of the national team’s matches and the level of training of young Russian football players.

The RFS has not yet responded to Tikhonov’s latest comments, but it is likely that the organization will try to smooth over the situation and avoid further conflict with the coach.
