“Suitable for all”: What kind of instructions did the military medical commission doctors receive regarding “white-ticketers” - a member of parliament (video)
Military medical commissions (VVKs) in Ukraine are now obliged to issue a “suitable for military service” verdict for all conscripts, even those who have health problems that previously would have disqualified them,
according to a member of parliament. “We received a directive: “Suitable for all.” And not to write “limited suitability” or “unfit for service” for anyone,” said Yaroslav Yurchyshyn, a member of the Verkhovna Rada and a member of the Holos faction.
Yurchyshyn says the directive came from the Main Military Medical Department of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine and applies to all military medical commissions in the country. He says he learned about the directive from doctors who work on such commissions.
The directive reportedly states that all conscripts must be issued a “suitable for military service” verdict, regardless of their health condition. This means that even those who have health problems that would have previously disqualified them from military service, such as heart disease, asthma, or diabetes, will now be eligible for conscription.
The directive has been met with concern by some medical experts, who say it could put the health of conscripts at risk. “This directive will have a negative impact on the health of conscripts,” said Oleh Musiy, a doctor and a member of the Ukrainian Medical Association. “It will lead to conscripts being sent to the front lines who are not fit for combat.”
The Ministry of Defense has not yet commented on the directive.
