Spain beats Denmark, wins Nations League group
Spain defeated Denmark 2-0 on Tuesday night in Copenhagen to win Group A2 of the Nations League.
The victory means that Spain will advance to the Final Four of the Nations League, which will be held in June 2023. Denmark, meanwhile, will have to settle for a place in the play-offs.
Spain started the match brightly and took the lead in the 24th minute through Marco Asensio. The Real Madrid winger cut inside from the right flank and fired a low shot into the bottom corner of the net.
Spain doubled their lead in the 55th minute through Mikel Oyarzabal. The Real Sociedad forward latched onto a pass from Ferran Torres and fired a first-time shot into the top corner of the net.
Denmark pushed for a goal in the closing stages, but Spain held on to secure the victory. The win was Spain's fourth in a row in the Nations League, and it will give them confidence heading into the Final Four.
The victory was also a boost for Spain manager Luis Enrique, who has been under pressure in recent months following a disappointing performance at the World Cup.
Enrique will now be hoping that Spain can continue their good form in the Final Four and win the Nations League for the first time.
