Slava, Alsou, Valeriya: Russian Pop Stars Condemn Ukraine War

Russian pop stars Slava, Alsou, and Valeriya have spoken out against the war in Ukraine, calling for an end to the violence.

In posts on social media, the singers expressed their heartbreak and anger over the conflict, which has killed thousands of civilians and forced millions to flee their homes.

Slava, whose real name is Anastasia Slanevskaya, wrote that she was "ashamed" of her country's actions.

"I cannot believe that in the 21st century, in the center of Europe, there is a war," she wrote. "I am ashamed that my country is the aggressor. I am ashamed that our soldiers are killing civilians."

Alsou, a Tatar singer who is popular in both Russia and Ukraine, said that she was "heartbroken" by the war.

"I have many friends and relatives in Ukraine," she wrote. "I cannot imagine what they are going through now. I pray for peace and an end to this senseless violence."

Valeriya, a veteran singer who has been close to the Kremlin in the past, also spoke out against the war.

"I am against war," she wrote. "I am against any violence. I am for peace and understanding. I pray for the safety of all people, both in Russia and Ukraine."

The singers' comments come as the war in Ukraine enters its third week.

The conflict has sparked international outrage and led to sanctions against Russia. The singers' comments are a sign that even in Russia, there is growing opposition to the war.
