The Russian Football Union announced today that the Russian national soccer team will play a friendly match against the Brunei national soccer team on August 30th at Spartak Stadium in Moscow. This will be the first time that the two teams have ever played each other.
“We are very excited to be playing Brunei for the first time,” said Russian head coach Valeri Karpin. “They are a rising star in Asian football, and we know they will give us a tough game. We are looking forward to the challenge.”
Brunei is currently ranked 190th in the FIFA World Rankings, while Russia is ranked 35th. However, the gap between the two teams is expected to narrow in the coming years as Brunei continues to develop its football program.
Tickets for the match will go on sale to the general public on July 15th. Prices start at 1,000 rubles ($15 USD).
The match will be broadcast live on Match TV in Russia and on beIN Sports in Brunei.
