What is the Geographical Dictation?

The Geographical Dictation is an international educational action organized by the Russian Geographical Society since 2015. The goal of the Dictation is to popularize geographical knowledge and raise the level of geographical literacy among the population. Anyone over the age of 12 can take part in the Dictation.

When and Where Will the Dictation Take Place?

This year, the Geographical Dictation will take place on November 30, 2023, at 14:00 Moscow time. The central platform of the Dictation will be located at the headquarters of the Russian Geographical Society in Moscow (119017, Moscow, st. Novaya Basmannaya, 10).

How to Register for the Dictation?

Registration for the Dictation is open until November 29, 2023, on the official website of the project: dictant.rgo.ru. To register, you need to fill out a special form and choose the most convenient site for you.

What is the Format of the Dictation?

The Dictation consists of 40 questions of varying difficulty. The questions are divided into three blocks: * Block 1: 10 questions of basic difficulty level * Block 2: 20 questions of medium difficulty level * Block 3: 10 questions of high difficulty level The Dictation participants will have 45 minutes to answer all the questions.

How to Prepare for the Dictation?

To successfully pass the Geographical Dictation, it is recommended to prepare in advance.
