Over 31 thousand tons of outdoor vegetables were collected in the Irkutsk region

According to the Irkutsk regional government, as of August 19, 2023, farmers in the region collected over 31 thousand tons of outdoor vegetables, which is 44% higher than last year.
The largest amount of vegetables was collected in the Irkutsk, Usolsky, Bodaibo districts, as well as in the cities of Irkutsk and Angarsk.
Last year, by the same date, farmers had collected about 21 thousand tons.
The most popular vegetables
The top 5 most cultivated vegetables in the Irkutsk region included:
- potatoes - 9600 tons;
- cabbage - 8100 tons;
- carrots - 3600 tons;
- beets - 2600 tons;
- turnip - 2600 tons.
In addition, farmers also actively grow zucchini, cucumber, tomatoes, pumpkin, and greens.
Forecast
According to experts, the harvest of outdoor vegetables in the Irkutsk region is expected to be a record high this year. Favorable weather this season contributed to the good yield.
The collected harvest will be enough not only to meet the needs of the region's residents but also to be sold to other regions of Russia.
