The All-Russian photo contest "Look, it's Russia!" has come to an end. This year, about 10 thousand people from all over the country took part in it.
The purpose of the competition is to preserve the cultural heritage of Russia and convey the beauty of its nature to the masses. Both professional photographers and amateurs could take part in it. The organizers received about 50 thousand works from them.
The geography of the participants was extremely wide - applications were received from all 82 regions of the country. The most active were the inhabitants of the Moscow region, the Krasnodar Territory, and the Republic of Bashkortostan.
The winners of the competition were determined by a competent jury consisting of leading Russian photographers, art critics and cultural figures.
The first place in the professional nomination was taken by photographer Alexander Kulagin from the city of Kondopoga, Karelia. His work "Russian North. Karelia" is a series of black-and-white photographs that demonstrate the harsh beauty of the northern nature.
The winner in the amateur nomination was Alexander Zhuravlev from the village of Novoye Devichkino, Belgorod Region. His work "The Return of the Prodigal Son" is a touching and deep photograph of a soldier returning home from service.
