Saint Petersburg club claims fourth title in six seasons
FC Zenit Saint Petersburg has been crowned champions of the Russian Premier League for the fourth time in six seasons after a 3-1 victory over FC Khimki on Saturday.
Goals from Artem Dzyuba, Sardar Azmoun, and Malcom were enough to secure the title for Zenit, who now have an unassailable lead at the top of the table with just two games remaining.
Semak's success
This is the second league title that Sergei Semak has won as Zenit manager, having also led the club to glory in 2019.
Under Semak, Zenit have established themselves as the dominant force in Russian football, winning four of the last six league titles.
Zenit's dominance
Zenit's success this season has been built on a solid defense and a potent attack.
The club has conceded just 12 goals in 29 league games, while Azmoun has scored 17 goals to lead the scoring charts.
Zenit will now turn their attention to the Russian Cup final, where they will face FC Lokomotiv Moscow on May 29.
Fenerbahçe ends season in second place
FC Fenerbahçe finished the season in second place in the Turkish Süper Lig, their highest finish since 2014.
The Istanbul club finished the season with 75 points, just four points behind champions Beşiktaş.
Fenerbahçe will now compete in the UEFA Champions League qualifiers next season.
