Egypt Defeats Morocco, Cabo Verde Upsets Senegal

Egypt advanced to the semifinals of the Africa Cup of Nations with a 2-1 victory over Morocco on Sunday.

Mohamed Salah scored the opening goal for Egypt in the first half. Morocco equalized in the second half through Achraf Hakimi's penalty.

However, Egypt regained the lead late in the game when Mahmoud Trezeguet scored the winning goal.

Cabo Verde pulled off a major upset by defeating Senegal 5-4 on penalties in the quarterfinals on Sunday.

The game was goalless after 120 minutes of play.

In the penalty shootout, Cabo Verde converted all five of their attempts, while Senegal missed one.

Egypt and Cabo Verde will now face each other in the semifinals of the Africa Cup of Nations on Thursday.

The other semifinal will be played between Cameroon and Burkina Faso.

The final will be played on Sunday.
