Brunei National Team Captain: Most of Our Players Are Part-Timers
Part-timers lead the way for Brunei
Brunei's national team captain, Faiq Bolkiah, has spoken out about the unique challenges facing his team as they prepare for the upcoming AFF Championship.
The team is made up mostly of part-time players, with many of them having to balance their football careers with other jobs.
Bolkiah, who plays his club football for Portuguese side Marítimo, said:
"It's not easy for us, because most of our players are part-timers. We have some players who are police officers, some who are military personnel. So it's difficult for us to get everyone together for training."
Balancing football and work
Despite the challenges, Bolkiah said that the team is determined to do well in the AFF Championship.
"We know that we're not the favorites, but we're going to give it our all. We're going to fight for every ball, and we're going to try to make our country proud."
Dedication and determination
The team's dedication and determination has been praised by Brunei's football association president, Pengiran Matusin Pengiran Matasan.
"These players are all heroes," Matasan said.
"They are all sacrificing their time and energy to represent their country. We are very proud of them, and we are confident that they will do their best in the AFF Championship."
