Azerbaijan, UNODC discuss cooperation

Azerbaijan and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) discussed cooperation in combating drug trafficking, corruption, and other transnational organized crime.
The talks were held during a meeting between Azerbaijani Interior Minister Colonel-General Vilayat Eyvazov and UNODC Executive Director Ghada Waly in Baku on Thursday.
Combating drug trafficking
Eyvazov and Waly discussed the importance of cooperation in combating drug trafficking, particularly in light of the recent increase in drug trafficking in the region.
They agreed to work together to strengthen border controls, improve intelligence sharing, and enhance capacity building for law enforcement agencies.
Fighting corruption
The two sides also discussed the need to strengthen cooperation in fighting corruption.
They agreed to work together to develop and implement anti-corruption strategies, strengthen the rule of law, and promote transparency and accountability.
Countering transnational organized crime
Eyvazov and Waly also discussed the need to enhance cooperation in countering transnational organized crime.
They agreed to work together to develop and implement strategies to combat organized crime, including money laundering, trafficking in human beings, and cybercrime.
Strengthening cooperation
In conclusion, the meeting between Eyvazov and Waly was a positive step towards strengthening cooperation between Azerbaijan and UNODC in combating drug trafficking, corruption, and transnational organized crime.
The two sides agreed to continue working together to develop and implement effective strategies to address these challenges.
