What is a DANCE match?
A DANCE match is a new format of hockey game that was developed by the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL) in 2022. The format is designed to make the game more exciting and dynamic, and it features several new rules, including:
- The game is played on a smaller rink, which makes it more difficult for players to skate and pass the puck.
- There are no icing calls, which means that players can dump the puck into the offensive zone without having to worry about getting called for a penalty.
- There are no line changes, which means that players must stay on the ice for their entire shift.
- The game is played with a smaller puck, which makes it more difficult for players to control.
The DANCE format has been well-received by fans and players alike, and it is expected to become a permanent fixture in the KHL in the years to come.
