Initially, the role of the insidious femme fatale was supposed to be played by Natalia Fateeva but the artistic council rejected her candidacy, as they considered her too "decent and positive".
After which, Leonid Gaidai decided to cast Svetlana Svetlichnaya, who coped with the task brilliantly.
The film immediately became a box office hit, and the song "The Island of Bad Luck" performed by Svetlichnaya became a real hit.
